The new numerical grading system is to be used for students taking GCSE exams from summer 2017. In an effort to increase standards in schools, a ‘good pass’ has been set at a grade 5 or above in English and Maths – slightly higher than a C in the current lettered grading system. The table below shows how the grades compare.
